Adding QR code to Your Business

The recent pandemic has also popularized the use of QR codes.

For example, when you want to eat at a restaurant or want to buy avocado juice, the waiter will show you a piece of paper with a QR code in it and ask you to use your cellphone and scan it. Immediately a menu of food or juice drinks will appear on your cellphone screen, then you can order directly from your phone.

QR codes will soon become a trend in our promotions and transactions. With over 90% increase in QR Code usage since 2018 till now, there is no denying this is a touch-free new world.

What is a QR code?

A QR code is a type of matrix barcode invented in 1994 by the Japanese automotive company Denso Wave.

A barcode is a machine-readable optical label that can contain information about the item to which it is attached.

Short for quick response, a QR code is a scannable barcode that stores data.

In marketing, they are commonly used to direct users to websites, social media profiles, or store coupons.

For example, someone can place a QR code on the back of their business card to direct you to their LinkedIn profile.

The QR code on the billboard can refer you to the page of the product being marketed.

How do QR codes work?

QR codes work similarly to barcodes in supermarkets.

Each QR code consists of black squares and dots representing different information pieces.

When scanned, the unique pattern in the barcode is translated into human-readable data. This transaction happens in seconds.

Users have to scan the code with a QR reader or scanner, although nowadays most people scan QR codes with a smartphone. If your phone doesn't have the capability, there are plenty of free apps for QR scanning.
